Truliant Opening 10 Charlotte Area Branches and Giving Away $100,000

Truliant Federal Credit Union announced today a major expansion in Charlotte with the addition of 10 new branch locations by the end of 2016. The expansion will give Truliant a total of 14 Member Financial Centers in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region creating more than 120 jobs over the next two years with an initial investment of $11 million.

MIT and Stanford Engineers Bring Summer Camps to North Carolina

Discover Technology, headquartered in Post Falls, Idaho, will expand its summer camp programs to the Charlotte area and hire 40 people. The nonprofit organization was founded by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University engineers Drs. Paul and Lorna Finman, and offers a variety of programs aimed at increasing students’ exposure to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) disciplines. The goal of Discover Technology, is to help communities confront shortages of college-ready students in order to fill looming talent shortages in those fields.

Frito-Lay Expansion to Create Mega-Facility in Charlotte

The Charlotte Chamber announced today that Frito-Lay, Inc., a Fortune 40 company, will invest in its Southwest Charlotte location, transforming the 38-year-old location into a mega-facility. This new mega-facility is expected to create 30 to 35 new jobs and result in a facility expansion with upgraded technology.

North Carolina jumped to fourth place among all states in Site Selection magazine’s 2014 Governor’s Cup, a closely-watched ranking of economic development success. North Carolina moved up three spots as compared to last year’s ranking. The Governor’s Cup is awarded annually based on the number of new and expanded corporate facilities as tracked by Conway Data Inc.’s New Plant Database. North Carolina ranked number one in the South Atlantic region.
