Gov. Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Cognizant will open a new information technology delivery and operations center in Charlotte. The company, a leading Fortune 500 provider of information technology, consulting and business process services, plans to create 150 jobs in Charlotte by the end of 2018 and invest more than $1.4 million in its North Carolina locations. Cognizant is also adding 350 additional jobs at its other company locations throughout North Carolina, bringing the job total to 500.
Bürkert Fluid Control Systems announced today its plans for a new advanced manufacturing facility in the town of Huntersville. The facility, a 120,000-square-foot building, will be constructed on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. Aramark announced today the opening of a new Healthcare Technology and Innovation Center in Charlotte. The facility is designed to drive more efficient ways for hospitals to manage clinical equipment assets. By opening the facility, Aramark is able to increase its research and development expertise, centralize training and engineering capabilities, and integrate the company’s clinical equipment parts sourcing organization into a single center of excellence.
The Charlotte Chamber received eight awards for various marketing pieces at the 2014 Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) Communication Awards Ceremony. The awards ceremony was held during the 2014 SEDC Annual Conference, August 5-7, at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. SEDC is the oldest and largest regional economic development association in North America, with members in 17 states in the southern United States.
Velocity Technology Solutions, Inc., a global leader in cloud application hosting for enterprise and business software, announced today that it will relocate its corporate headquarters from New York City to Charlotte. Queen City Soccer Club LLC has announced it has acquired the USL PRO franchise rights for Charlotte from the Charlotte Eagles. The new team, owned and operated by Queen City Soccer Club LLC, will begin play in 2015. The ownership group is headed by Jim McPhilliamy, current president and managing partner of the Charlotte Hounds (Major League Lacrosse).

The location in Charlotte’s Historic South End is the company’s second office location and will serve as the center for sales, marketing, and product development and design.
